ABOUT THE ALTAR

We are a tribe… an army… that is passionately pursuing the Presence of Jesus.

PURSUING JESUS… CONTENDING FOR AWAKENING.

Those that run with us at The Altar believe the following:

1. An altar is  a place of Worship –

We are a people called together to build a place for the presence of God to rest at the center of all other activity.  We do not believe that ministry should be foundationally built around activities, programs, outreaches, and marketing plans.  Instead, we believe that in creating a space where the presence of God is fully welcomed and prioritized, all other activities will flow out of this place.   Like Mary, we desire to choose the “better thing” in all of our activities.  Like David we say “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.” Luke 10:38-42, Matthew 26:6-13

Amos 9:11, Psalm 27

2.  An altar is a place of Sacrifice –  Jesus’ example of living a life of obedience unto death, even death on a cross is one that every believer must embrace.  We believe that the path into Christian maturity, authority, and one’s true calling and destiny can only be found through death to self.   A life of servanthood, self- sacrifice, and humility are a part of the narrow path People are called to death to self, taking up one’s cross, self sacrifice, servanthood, humility as this is the narrow path into spiritual maturity and authority.   The consistent theme of taking up one’s cross is found throughout Jesus’ teachings and the new testament and is a core foundation of The Altar in everything that we do.  Matt 10:39, Matthew 16:24-26, Galations 2:20

3.  An altar is a  Place of Dedication – We believe that every person comes into a new life in Christ and that with this new life comes a new commissioning from the Lord.   Every believer is called into their own specific ministry field as a laborer for the harvest and it is our mandate to equip the saints for the work of ministry.  Regardless of education, position, skills, talents, or abilities, the Lord has a specific custom tailored assignment for every follower of Jesus.  It is our mandate to make sure those in our community are are anointed, filled with the Holy Spirit, consecrated, commissioned, positioned, equipped, and covered do the unique and specific work of ministry only they can do.  Matthew 9:35-38, Matthew 28:19,  Ephesians 4:11-13
